The 13th Biennial Western Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies Deer and Elk Workshop will be held May 28–31, 2019 at Hotel Saint George in Marfa, TX. The workshop planning team is developing a very exciting and engaging program with special events to highlight Texas’ hospitality and desert mountains and basins. The workshop will include a plenary session on the challenges and opportunities of managing deer and elk on private land; sessions on deer and elk research and management; poster session; and several networking opportunities at evening socials and potential management specific breakout sessions.
We invite you to submit abstracts for oral or poster presentations by March 15, 2019.

Being in a remote region of Texas, the two nearest cities and international airports are in El Paso and Midland. The El Paso and Midland international airports are both about 190 miles from Marfa. Marfa does have a municipal airport; however, there are no commuter flights from El Paso or Midland to Marfa. For attendees needing to fly, booking flights to El Paso or Midland and using a car rental service to drive to Marfa is the best option.

All papers and abstracts should be written in JWM format. Abstracts are due by March 15. Papers for the proceedings are due July 1.

A representative from each state and province will be sent a questionnaire via email similar to past workshops. All data from the questionnaires will be compiled for the workshop and presented by Mike Janis.
